Post Partum Ponderings
Well, it's been 10 weeks since I had Teylie. I struggle alot during the postpartum stage. I hate my body, it's so fat and none of my clothes fit. I'm heavier than before the pregnancy, which is frustrating since I worked out 3-5x a week up until the 34th week, and ate well for the most part. I am not the type of woman who loses weight easily, and breastfeeding doesn't help. I am also still trying to sort out my day, on top of schooling 4 kids, nursing a baby, trying to corral 2 small children, and keeping my house clean. I'm worn thin, let me tell you. (I have been staying on top of the bathrooms, at least! And my darling husband has been doing the laundry until I get house and school pretty much under control. {can it ever be under control with 7 kids??})
My mom-in-love (and Dad) moved away from us, which is very hard. They lived just down the road so not having them so close is taking alot of getting used to. I'm trying not to cry every time I think about it. We saw them every Sunday at church, and every Wednesday for Pioneer Club when they were at Prayer Meeting. So, going from that to only seeing them once a month or so is really difficult for both me and the kids.
We have FINALLY gotten back into a school routine!! I think we're on track to finish school by June this year!! I do some school during the summer as my kids need it so the transition back into full time school isn't SO hard. Liam is doing school about 2-3 days a week, so he'll do some during summer, too. Ronan is begging to do school, so I think we may try Kindergarten in the fall with him. He turns 5 in December.
I've been brainstorming some ideas for more posts, so stay tuned!!
I really appreciate the understanding you all have as I cannot blog all the time.

She is Here!
Well, I know it's been a while, I'm sorry about that. We have been so SUPER busy this last month!
Teylie Robin arrived on November 30, at 5:45pm, weighing 6lbs. 12oz. and measuring 19in. Our church put on a baby shower for us, and we were unable to make it as it started at 6:30pm the day she was born! I went to see my midwife the day before and was admitted. Even though she was slightly early, she had no need to be in the NICU. We stayed for 2 days and then were discharged. Teylie was showered with love by all 6 of her siblings.
We had a great Christmas with the family! My older brother came up from FL to visit and it was good to catch up with him.
Our family had a good 2017...I cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for us in 2018!

I love Summer!
I'm so excited....because my husband and I are busy creating our vegetable garden, front flower garden, and our front porch haven!!
Our front flower garden has been slowy deteriorating since we moved in 9 years ago. My mother-in-law had some mini roses and tuilps in the front garden. It was a cute little garden! When we lost our little Darcy last year at 10 weeks gestation; we buried him/her in a corner of the little garden. My husband bought a beautiful headstone and we put it in the garden. We want to make it look pretty, so we have planned a cute flower garden to spruce the space up.
I love growing vegetables!! I love transplanting the plants and watering them. I love watching the veggies grow from tiny to big because I took care of them! We have a slightly raised bed garden in our backyard. This year we are planting tomatoes, broccoli, potatoes, basil, cilantro, cucumbers, zucchini, spaghetti squash, jalapenos, cabbage, cauliflower, blueberries, and lettuce. Our strawberries have come back even though I planted them 2 years ago!! I am excited to see how these veggies will grow!
My dream has always been to have an inviting, relaxing front porch for people to relax on. I love white wicker! I have to figure out what colors I want, but I know it will include red accents. I cannot wait to have this space all set up!

Nearing the End
It's that time of year again!! The time of year where kids can play outside all day, and Mommy doesn't have to constantly say, "Do your work!"
It's almost the end of the school year!!
We started over with our curriculum about 6 weeks after school started, so we are behind in a few subjects...but for the most part...we should be done by the end of June!
Don't get me wrong: I love homeschooling!! But I do enjoy my summer break. I will do a few things with the kids, like make them read a small chapter book at least 3x a week to keep their reading skills up.
Even though Liam will be 5 by September, I may wait a year to start him in school. Right now, he doesn't seem at all interested or ready to start. I'll be able to determine more closer to fall.
Are you almost done? Hooray!

Something's Up!!
I honestly don't know what has gotten into me lately...but I've been bitten by the cleaning/organizing bug! I have always struggled with laziness. I HATE work...ESPECIALLY cleaning! I mean, it's so mundane, and it constantly has to be done.
In the past few weeks, I've noticed that messes bother me. Like, I pulled all of the couches away from the walls and swept everything out from underneath because it bothered me that it was there. Today I finally tackled the corner of our playroom that I used as storage...that's been there for literally months and months.
I suddenly want everything to have a place, and be in it's place. I want the floors vacuumed. I want the bathrooms wiped down every night. (Ok, Mom...you can get up off of the floor now.) I want the kids' rooms cleaned up every day. I make sure the kitchen is clean and dinner is cleaned up immediately after dinner. (yes, I mostly let dishes sit for a day....or two...)
My favorite thing to do is connect my phone to our speaker and blast upbeat, Christian music while the kids and I clean. It turns into a dance party at times, but I make it fun...and we LOVE IT! (Just try listening to Unspoken's Open the Clouds without dancing...I dare you! )
I'm not sure what's happening...but my husband is certainly NOT complaining, HAHA!

My Favorite Time of the Year
I LOVE CHRISTMAS! It is my absolute FAVORITE time of the year! I love the music, the smells, the atmosphere, the decorations...just everything! Christmas with kids is even more amazing. I love to see the joy and wonder on their little faces. My kids sing Christmas songs all day, and they love the little Christmas countdown tree we have. Every day they add an ornament to the countdown tree until, on Christmas day, they put the star on top.
We celebrate by going to my in-laws house Christmas day. My mother-in-law gathers the grandchildren around (there are 9, with 1 more on the way!) and read them the Christmas story. Then we all open presents. The kids all play with their new toys while the men usually talk and the women get food ready, or snacks out. We always have Lasagna and Chocolate Christmas Roll with a few side dishes. (this year my MIL made a fantastic snack of cheese-stuffed jalapeƱo peppers wrapped in bacon...YUM!) It's a fun-filled day of family and fun!
This year, I found 12 Christmas-related books and DVDs and wrapped them. For the 12 days before Christmas, each kids unwrapped one present each night. They then watched the movie or I read them the book. It was so much fun I'll probably do it again next year!
What are some fun Christmas traditions in your family? Please share in the comments below!

How I Make a Little Money on the Side, Being a SAHM
My husband has a great, well-paying job. I appreciate all that he does to make sure we have enough money for our large family. Occasionally, I like to get special things, and in order to have extra money for that, I do two things: I sell my Crochet work, and I sell on eBay.
1. Selling my Crochet Work
I set up a free website where people can go to look at all the items I have made to get ideas. I also sell in a local buy, sell, giveaway Facebook group. I set up a Facebook page where I can interact with my customers, and where people can message me about their order. Most of my orders are through word-of-mouth from my happy customers. I would love to sell at a craft fair someday, but right now, it's just not possible. I use my kids and myself as advertising by making them cool hats and myself nice scarves and hats. I have been asked for a business card several times just by wearing what I make! This past Saturday, my friend and I, with my kids, went to a craft fair and I was stopped by a woman asking where my kids got their hats! I was able to hand her my card, and she was so excited.
2. Selling on Ebay
My mother-in-law has a successful eBay store for homeschoolers, and she got me started on eBay. I just sell random things. Some are brand new that I got at a discount and wish to profit on. Some are books or other items I have lying around my house that I wish to get rid of. It is super easy and really fun! It's great to have a mom who I can run prices by. She helps me figure out how to sell and what price to set. You can sell just about anything on eBay! I just sold a brand new, in the box FitBit Alta for $115, and I paid $65 on Black Friday for it! After Paypal fees, I made $46 on it!
So, these are the two ways I make a little extra money for myself. If you're not the crafty sort, eBay is a great way to make some money. If you are crafty, what a nice thing to make a little money doing something you love!

A Homeschool Update
Hey there! I'm just doing a small update of our homeschooling. I already did a post on how we switched curricula and that we are LOVING the new curriculum HERE.
Kayson is my 5-year-old, and he is in kindergarten. He is absolutly IN LOVE with school! He even wants to do it on Saturday and Sunday! The most exciting thing happening for him is that he can read! He is so excited, and sounds out big words in other books just so he can practice reading. I am so proud of him and his love of learning!
Fionna is 7 and is doing 1st grade with her 6-year-old brother, Tiernan. They both are liking Christian Liberty Press and their favorite subject is History. They learn Bible stories from the first happenings in History, and color pages. Fionna is great in Math, although she likes to rush through things. Tiernan is great in Phonics, and can get pretty much every page and every pronunciation correct!
Mama is loving homeschool! I have a pretty solid routine now where I switch back and forth between Kindergarten subjects and 1st Grade subjects. It works well, and things go pretty smoothly every day.
I look forward to the day when I will have at least 10 years under my belt.

Why it's Good to Shake up Your Exercise Routine
I have found that I love numerous different exercise modes. I like Zumba, PiYo, RIPPED, Kickboxing, Jogging, & Yoga. Those exercises are all so different, which is good! Mixing up your routine makes your body work harder. If you do the same thing every day, your body gets used to it, and it doesn't work as hard as it once did.
I did Zumba and PiYo last night and I can attest to the fact that it was HARD. Not because I don't exercise...because I do. (I try to get in at least 3 days per week.) It was because I was so used to running or doing RIPPED class, that my muscles got a bit used to that. Zumba is aerobic, and PiYo does a lot of stretching and holding positions. I have been doing PiYo at home, but doing a live class is actually quite different. My instructors mix up the pattern every week, so you're not doing the same routine every single time. My RIPPED class also mixes up the routine weekly. Some days are alot harder than others.
And that is the point.
You want your muscles, your body, to have to work hard every time you exercise. The harder it is to catch your breath, the harder your body is working. When you're sore after a workout, it means you did as much as you could, and then some. It's good to push yourself. It's good to try new things as well! I've been able to do things I thought I would never be able to do!
When you first start out exercising, everything is hard. But as you slowly work your way up to do harder and harder things, it proves that you are making progress. Workouts don't get easier...YOU get better. So, if you've fallen into an exercise rut, try something new, or shake up the routine.
What exercises have you found enjoyable? Please share in the comments below!

Christmas in November!!
I am SO excited!! My dear, darling husband has given me my Christmas present early this year!!! We are going to see the Seattle Seahawks play the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in December!!!!!!!!!!! AGH!!! I am SO, SO, SO excited! I'm already planning a trip to the local mall to get a jersey and a hat (it will be COLD here in December...), and a blanket at Fanzz. I might crochet myself a hat, and a scarf or cowl to keep myself warm.
I am kind of a CRAZY football fanatic. You should see me at home when I'm watching a game. My husband laughs at me all the time. I jump, I scream, I dance,...yeah. The NFC Championship game in the 2014 season against the Packers that went into overtime...CRAZY!! (NFC Championship game SEA vs GB) The Wild Card game against the Minnesota Vikings last season where the Vikings kicker MISSED THE GOAL POST that was about 22 feet away...INSANE!!!! (Wild Card game SEA vs. MIN 2015)
Anyway...yeah. So this is a glimpse inside my crazy football fanatic self. (I will post pictures and do a post after the game!!!!)
Ahem! Ok...back to school and housework and THM!

Perks of Homeschooling
We do not celebrate Halloween in our family. We just believe there is nothing redeemable about this "holiday." So we don't participate. BUT...we do celebrate something on October 31! We celebrate...
REFORMATION DAY!
That is, the day the Protestant Reformation was more or less, born. 499 years ago, the monk, Martin Luther, boldly nailed his 95 theses to the door of the church for all to see. Thus sparked the Reformation...as people's eyes were opened to the rank disobedience to God in the Catholic church.
So, today, instead of the usual homeschool; we did a mini unit study! I researched on Pinterest for ideas...and found some gems! I printed out 2 pages for the kids to color. One was of Luther nailing his theses on the door with his name, "Luther," in bold letters at the bottom. The other page was of his crest, a rose with a cross in the middle; and Ephesians 2:8-9, which says, For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. I then looked on Amazon Video (we are Prime members.) and found the Torchlighters had an animated "documentary" for kids called, The Martin Luther Story. The kids loved it, and I enjoyed it as well.
This is why I LOVE homeschooling! I can decide to change up the day's learning to match the holiday, or some event taking place in our lives. I also love that we have the Internet as a huge resource!

My First Participating Tough Mudder Experience
I have to honestly admit, I was SO nervous! I mean, 12 miles...20+ obstacles...electricity...UGH!! On top of it all...it was rainy and gloomy and cold.
We arrived at Road America. We passed our fellow Mudders from the earlier waves already tackling the "Ladder to Hell." Our wave was at 10:15. We had a half hour before we were to get in line. I did a super short, live Facebook video for our friends and family who couldn't spectate. (we were there all by ourselves, and honestly, it was a crappy day for the spectators.)
We got in line, and were herded into a holding pen (seriously, a pen...like cattle. People were mooing all over the place, haha!). Then we got released up to the warm up area. After squatting and lunging and doing jumping jacks we finally.....got to go to the actual starting line.
The announcer said "GO!"and we all went! It was exciting! We jogged for a bit, then we got to the first obstacle, "Kiss of Mud," which is about 20ft. or more of super watery mud that you have to crawl/swim through while keeping your butt down so you don't get caught on the barbed wire strung over the entire swampy mess. It was fun, although the water was cold.
My husband did most of the obstacles, I did about half. It was freezing cold, and the trails themselves were an entire, 12 mile obstacle as the rains from the week before turned everything into a soupy, muddy pit. This was Bram's 3rd Tough Mudder run...and he, as well as all of the other legionnaires, were commenting on just how AWFUL the trails were. This year was by far the muddiest, toughest course they had experienced...and some of the legionnaires have done more than 20 runs! (just in case people think I'm exaggerating how bad it was...)
I was SO ready to quit so many times!! I was cold, miserable, and just tired.
After 5 hours of mud, sweat, and more mud...we got to the last obstacles. Since Bram is a legionnaire, he was able to take the alternate finishing obstacle, "Frequent Flyers." This was my first run, so I either had to do "Electroshock Therapy" or bypass. I have a deathly fear of electric shock, and I know you're supposed to "Conquer all fears!" but I decided to bypass. I still got my headband and shirt...and a beer, which I took a sip and then gave to my hubby.
My favorite part about Tough Mudder is the camaraderie with the other Mudders. Everyone looks out for and helps everyone else. We met some super nice people, and were able to help each other out.
So...
Would I do it again?
YES!
(I actually signed up for next year this morning!!)

Major Happenings!!
Wow! So many things have been going on over here!!
1. The most important news is that
WE ARE EXPECTING #7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT??? Yes, you read that right. I am pregnant once again. It was a complete shock, only discovered when I took a pregnancy test in preparation for a midwife visit for ovarian pain. We are thrilled, albeit somewhat nervous.
2. We are getting ready to start our second year of homeschool!
Which means lots of planning, making lists, and making sure we have everything we need from our curriculum. I still have to get K's kindergarten workbooks, but other than that and a few other necessities, we are mostly set!
3. My 8-month-old is crawling!
That means she is getting into lots of trouble! Having 5 older siblings also helps with that, unfortunately. But it is so much fun to watch her explore and discover new things. Her favorite thing to do now is eat yogurt snacks.
4. My husband and I are getting ready to celebrate 8 years of marriage!
I can't believe it's been 8 years since I vowed to love, honor, and obey this amazing man. I pray God gives me 80 more years with my beloved.
What fun/important things are happening in your life? Please share below!

What I do for Fun as a Mom of Many
Some people ask me what I like to do for fun as a mom of many kids. (Like we are some kind of other species, I guess???) Anyway...Here are my personal responses:
1. I love to crochet! I have my own business called, For the Love of Yarn. It is a fun way to earn extra money while doing something I love. (My website is HERE)
I learned to crochet when I was 11. My grandmother was an avid knitter, and had shown me how. I was not good at it, but I learned about crochet somehow. One day when my mom and I were at JoAnns, I saw a How to Crochet book and asked my mom if I could get it. We picked up a hook and some pretty yarn, and went home. I loved it from the start! It has only been in the last 2 years that I really blossomed in my crochet prowess. I learned to read patterns, and I discovered that knowing all of the basic stitches opened up a world of endless possibilities! You can make any shape you want with different stitches; it's mind blowing! I love working with my hands, and creating pieces for people to enjoy.
2. I love to go to museums. I love history. I enjoy looking at old things that once were someone's possessions. Someone used that item long ago! It's just incredible to me. Along those lines are antique shops. Touching things that meant so much to people who lived sometimes 100s of years ago is just phenomenal!
3. I love to read! I am obsessed with Jane Austen's novels. I also have a few other favorite authors, such as; Beverly Lewis, Francine Rivers, Judith Pella, Sarah Mae, Sally Clarkson, Bodie & Brock Thoene...to name a few. It is so relaxing; especially when paired with a nice soak in the tub!
So, those are some things I enjoy doing for fun! What do you like to do?

10 Things You Didn't know about Me
Hey there! I thought I'd do a fun post today. I'm going to share with you 10 things you might not have guessed about me. Some of these may surprise you, some are funny. Enjoy!
1. I was 17 when I got married.
I'm serious. I met my husband in '07 when I was 16. We courted for 3 weeks before he proposed. We were married 2 months later.
2. I have 3 biological siblings who are all deceased.
My mother lost her first child at 2 months gestation when she was 15. She had me 2 years later. A year after that she had my brother and sister, Brian and Sierra. They were only 5 months along and they died 4 days after their birth.
3. After school I was going to major in nursing (obstetrics) while minoring in forensic science and performing arts.
I wanted to be an OB nurse so I could then become a midwife. I also loved forensic science. Since I was a violinist and a drama queen, Performing Arts just seemed a natural choice.
4. I hate seafood.
Yes, I cannot stand seafood. Any kind. I have tried lobster, which is tolerable. My in-laws would probably disown me if I wasn't married to their son.
5. I love horses.
Horses are the most beautiful creatures on this earth. My oldest daughter has inherited my love for equines. My favorite breed is Fresians, and favorite color is Black.
6. Bram wasn't the only guy to want to marry me.
When I was 14, a young man at our church approached my parents and asked them permission to be my friend, with the intention of the friendship blossoming into something more later on. They tentatively agreed, but shut it down once it became apparent he wanted to move it along much faster than anticipated.
7. My uncle invented the Cheesehead. (if you're not from Wisconsin, you might not know what that is)
Have you seen the Packers fans sporting slices of cheese on their heads?? Yeah, my Uncle invented them!! His company is called Foamation.
8. I was an advanced violin player before I married.
I took 5 years of violin lessons. I was pretty good. I had memorized and perfected a 7-page song for a concert. I practiced 3 hours a day. I loved it! But having kids will sort of put music on the back burner, but I occasionally pull it out and play.
9. I am a bookworm.
I love books! I can read a 400 page book in an hour if I am not interrupted. My favorite genre is Christian romance, and I also love a good mystery.
10. I love food.
Seriously. I just love food. I love eating. I love tasting all the yummy goodness and yummy flavor combinations. I'm happy when I eat. But, I don't eat tons of food every day. I'd be a whale if I did that. I just like that I can take food, put it together with other food and make something so delicious, so tasty, that everyone enjoys it. It's fun.
So, there you have it! What about you? What are some interesting facts about you? Please, feel free to share them in the comments.

3 Tips for Fitting Exercise into Your Busy Life
I'm very blessed with a husband who actually WANTS and encourages me to work out. Mostly to help me train for my Dirty Girl and Tough Mudder runs in August and October. He watches the kids for me so I can go for my runs or go to the Y to do my R.I.P.P.E.D. classes. How do I fit exercising into my busy schedule?
1. Make the Time
I make the time to work out. I know as soon as I wake up that I will, at some point, be working out that day. I then chose which type of exercise I want to do that day and then work my schedule to make it happen. Tuesdays and Thursdays are R.I.P.P.E.D. days (5:15-6:05 pm) If my husband is working second shift, I go to my classes on Monday and Wednesday at 8:00am. Every other day (Mon., Wed., & Fri.) I go on a run.
2. Find a Partner
I have an amazing workout friend! She motivates me to challenge myself in ways I didn't know I could. "D" is the one who introduced me to Zumba, then PiYo, then R.I.P.P.E.D. Working out is so much better when you do it with a friend! When you have someone to talk to, laugh with, and rib; it just puts you in a great mood.
3. Find Exercises that You Want to do
I encourage you to find exercises that you like. I have no desire to be a body builder, so I don't lift weights. It just doesn't appeal to me. But, I really LOVE kickboxing!! I like mat work like PiYo. I LOVE dancing, so I do Zumba and Just Dance with my kids. Now, I'm not saying you shouldn't try new things, but if you try something and find that you just don't like it, don't do it. You should AT LEAST give things a little bit of time before stopping.
I do encourage anyone who isn't working out to start. It feels great, and as I tell myself whenever I don't feel like it, No one has ever regretted working out. Your body might feel sore, but it is really worth it.
I cannot wait to do my Dirty Girl run in August!! I wish I had someone to do it with, but my workout bestie can't do it. I am SO glad I can do Tough Mudder with my husband in October. It should be fun...should be.

4 Reflections on our First Year of Homeschooling
Wow. We did it! We did our first year of homeschool!! I can't believe I made it, honestly. There were SO many times I was ready to quite. So many times I wondered why on earth I had wanted to do this in the first place! But, my Fionna and Tiernan can READ!!! They can do addition and subtraction! They can tell time! They can recite verses and poems! They know days of the week, months of the year, continents, planets, their state, country, town, capital, counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s; the four directions, the seasons, and SO MUCH MORE!! I am so proud of them! As I've reflected on our first year, I have 4 things I'd like to share:
1. Why I homeschool.
I school my kids at home because I truly, honestly believe that God tells me to. In Deuteronomy 6:7 it says, "You shall teach the diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up." How can I do that if my kids are away for 6 hours/day at school?
2. It's a mutual effort between you and your husband.
Homeschooling isn't just the mom's job. It is a mutual job done by both you and your husband. Yes, you are doing most of the teaching work, but your husband can contribute many great things that will help your kids learn. Sometimes when Daddy explains things, the kids finally understand it! And keep in mind, some of your children will take after their daddy, so they will learn and understand like their daddy. Who better to teach them than Daddy!
3. It is flexible.
The beauty of homeschooling is that you can be FLEXIBLE. This is especially great if you're like me, with 4 little ones who aren't in school constantly needing attention. If you're having a bad day, you're sick, you didn't sleep well because of your nursing baby, etc. you can take a day off. You can make up a missed day on Saturday. If one or more of the children is having difficulties learning something, you can sit with them and work it out, and not bother with the clock. After I had Winry, I struggled for a few weeks with scheduling, feeling tired, and having to adjust to 6 kids. It was so wonderful to know that I could take the weeks I needed to rejuvenate and adjust!
4. You are there for every milestone in your kids development.
I saw my kids adding for the first time. I was there when they read their first sentence! I would have missed those times if they were in school. I get to see the light go on in their little faces when they understand things. The pure joy of correcting their papers to find they did everything perfect is beyond rewarding! I am part of my kids lives 24/7, and it's amazing (most of the time).
I would encourage everyone to take a step back, and thing about homeschooling. It's not something weird, anti-government, conspiracy-theorists do. Recent research has discovered that thousands of families are choosing to homeschool their kids more than ever before. You can choose to have your kids indoctrinated at school, where you have absolutely no control over what they hear; or you can teach them at home, where you have 100% control over what they learn. And that big "how will they get socialization" question....well, just come over to my house and see just how social my kids are. (seriously, they hug random strangers at the store...{we're working on Stranger Danger{) Both my husband and I were homeschooled, and it is so wonderful to be able to do the same for our family. We love it, and pray that our children will homeschool our grandchildren; leaving a legacy of at-home education that fosters a love for God and a passion for learning.
I want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to my mom, and my mother-in-law; who took the time to educate us at home. You did a fantastic job. You instilled in us a love for God, a desire to learn, and we take that and pour it into our children. THANK YOU for your love, your time, your heart, your tears, your frustrations, your perseverance, and your patience.

3 Ideas for Controling Chaos
Managing a large family is quite the learning curve! I grew up in a household of 5. My husband grew up in a household of 5. We are a household of 8. So, with that comes some learning. You have to learn how to manage your family appropriately without going crazy or always feeling like you're drowning in chores. How do you manage all of the laundry that comes with a large family? (I am STILL learning that one.) How do you budget for a large family? How do you manage extracurricular activities in a large family? All of these questions are important to managing your large family.
LAUNDRY:
Yeah, this one is my nemesis. I have yet to conquer this one. We did try one summer to limit how many of each item of clothing everyone had, but I ended up buying more clothes as I was washing too many loads every day to keep up. (having 4 boys will do that to you. They attract all manner of dirt and grime.) What I *TRY* to do every day is at least 2 loads. (you know that meme where it says you keep washing the same load so mildew doesn't set in?...yeah that's me.) Just this past year I created a system of baskets with everyone's name on them. The baskets are small and light so even my 2-year-old can carry one. Each morning (or whenever I have a load done) they grab their baskets and put their clothes away in their assigned drawers. I've even taught my almost 7-year-old how to put wash in the washing machine and then transfer them to the dryer. She likes that chore. My advice is to include the children in the laundry as soon as they are able.
BUDGET:
My husband is in charge of the finances for us. He gives me a weekly budget, and every Monday I go to the bank and withdraw the amount in cash. Cash makes sure I don't go over budget. It's kind of hard to spend money you don't physically have, right? Everyone's weekly budget will look different, depending on income, number of people, and other things. I suggest talking it through with your husband and mutually coming to an agreeable amount.
ACTIVITIES:
With so many kids in one family, and all of the kids getting older and looking for fun things to do: how do you keep them all straight and happy without going crazy?? I just signed F up for summer gymnastics class with her cousin. My brother-in-law has wonderfully offered to pick her up and take her to the class every week. On the Monday's he cannot do it, my dear Mother-in-law has offered to take the girls. Most things require me to pack all 6 kids in the van and go. I don't mind it most days, but it can get overwhelming. I can only imagine what it will look like if TJ wants baseball, L wants football, or K and R have soccer. In the fall, the kids who are 5+ go to Pioneer Club at their cousin's church every Wednesday. I usually am able to take only the kids in PC and leave the littles at home with Daddy. But on the days I can't do that, I take them all and we just play in the nursery until it's done. My advice is to just understand that if you want your kids to be involved in sports or other extracurricular activities, it's gonna take a lot of time and some annoyance. I'm blessed to have a husband and family I can rely on, but it's not always possible. Extra things will take sacrifices.
